Background

This song is about a small group of mountains called Glen Esk above the township of Esk in SE Queensland. As part of the larger collection of works that identify who we are in the Brisbane Valley this one explores the timelessness that people living in its shadow appreciate; The mountain has been there a long time before them and will do so afterward.

My thanks to Llloyd King for pointing out that when the afternoon sun is at the right angle after a thunderstorm, the quartz outcrops sparkle like diamonds, a feature that an Esk-ite holds dearly.
